This resort has four courses: Plantation, Great Waters, Oconee and National which is a 27-hole facility. These courses are listed separately in this directory. The Great Waters Course has the reputation of being "The Pebble Beach of the East." Designed by Jack Nicklaus and, the course opened for play in 1992. The Great Waters Course was rated 28th by "GOLF Magazine" in their 1998 list of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." The entire front nine, with the exception of the area in front, to the right, and behind the green on hole #9, is played in the forest. On the back nine, after you complete hole #10, Lake Oconee is both visible and in the field of play through hole #18. You must be a guest of the resort in order to play the course.
