SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Boulders is investing more than $1 million in upgrades on its two championship golf courses, resort officials have announced. The renovation is slated for completion in early 2007. An expanded and leveled driving range offers almost an acre of hitting area, while sand bunkers have been refreshed on all 36 holes. New teak outdoor furniture now adorns the golf course range and clubhouse area, and a new golf relaxation/seating area at the back end of the resort range offers an appealing setting for post-play cocktails or a refreshing cold beverage. New bag stands are also among the enhancements, and top-of-the-line Club Car "Precedent" golf carts will be introduced for the 2006/07 season. The Boulders Golf Course continues to be recognized with top rankings by two of the country's most prestigious golf publications, GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest. "It's tremendously satisfying to have golf experts rate our courses so highly and we continue to update and renovate the courses to provide the best possible golf experience for members and guests of The Boulders," said Director of Golf Tom McCahan. The Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa is nestled in the Sonoran Desert foothills north of Scottsdale, and features 160 guest casitas and 55 one-, two- and three-bedroom villas, seven restaurants and a lounge, and eight tennis courts including three classic clay surfaces and five premier cushion courts. The Boulders boasts two 18-hole, par-72 championship golf courses designed by the acclaimed Jay Morrish. Ranked as the No. 1 Golf Resort in Arizona, the courses are considered some of the most demanding in the Southwest and are known for their rugged beauty and desert panoramas. Copyright 2006 PGA.com.
