PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The PGA Golf Club, The PGA of America's award-winning golf facility at PGA Village, will begin a two-year, multi-million dollar capital improvement program in May that will position it as the premier daily-fee golf experience in the country. As The PGA Golf Club celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, the improvement program will touch on all elements of the facility, which features two Tom Fazio and one Pete Dye-designed courses. The program features a conversion of all putting surfaces to Champion Ultra Dwarf, the refurbishment of bunkers; improved drainage to improve the overall playing experience; a clubhouse expansion and a major addition to landscaping that enhances the Fazio and Dye designs. "One decade ago, The PGA Golf Club set out on a journey to become the most unique public-access facility in the country, a Club that served as home to The PGA Professional, and open to the public," said PGA of America President Roger Warren. "The PGA Golf Club continues to be a popular attraction for golfers nationwide, and we believe the capital improvement program will further underscore our Association’s commitment to provide the ultimate golf experience for generations to come." The only PGA-owned and operated public golf facility, The PGA Golf Club debuted in 1996 as Golf Digest's "Best New Affordable Course in North America," and all three courses – The North, South and Dye Courses carry Audubon International Signature status for their compliance with environmental requirements. The North and South Courses opened for play in 1996, and the Dye Course in 2000. Copyright 2006 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
