SNOW HILL, N.C. -- Mill Run Development Group, LLC, will build a new classic American club community and championship golf course in the eastern North Carolina community of Snow Hill, company officials have announced. The project will be known as Cutter Creek Plantation.
"Our location is one of our greatest assets," said Buzz Shackelford, managing director for the project. "Residents will have all of the advantages of living in a small town, but they'll also have the convenience of being within close driving distance of city life, the ocean, and the mountains. They will have access to some of the best medical care and schools available. Shopping, restaurants, galleries, and entertainment venues are readily accessible."
Cutter Creek Plantation's design was based on constructing a totally open environment. No single home site abuts another home site's backyard. And, with more than 200 acres dedicated to the golf course, residents won't feel like it is crowding their space.
Bob Moore of JMP Golf Design Group of Chapel Hill, N.C., will lead the design of the Audubon-certified course. Moore's list of projects has included world-class designs in the United States, as well as award-winning private, public, and resort golf courses on five continents around the world.
"The course will be an outstanding place to play," said Moore. "With over 7,200 yards, it's going to be a monster from the back tees. But it's the art of what JMP does that will make Cutter Creek's course stand out."
In addition to golf, Cutter Creek Plantation will include a wide range of amenities including a fitness center, swimming pool, clay tennis courts, and hiking trails. An equestrian center will be situated across the road from the main entrance, which will include stables, as well as a large fenced pasture and riding area. Outdoor enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, and wildlife found on scenic Contentnea Creek, just minutes away.
The 634-acre Cutter Creek Plantation community will consist of more than 700 home sites. In its initial release, 100 of those home sites are being made available for purchase and prices start in the $70,000s. Construction of the community's infrastructure is expected to begin in early 2007 and golf course construction is anticipated to start later that summer.
