MIDWAY, Utah -- Zermatt Resort & Spa opened its first phase to the public on Dec. 1, company officials said, with its grand opening scheduled for the spring of 2006. Phase one includes 39 luxury villas in the Chateau Hotel Villas, while the grand opening will see the debut of 126 villas at Chateau Hotel Villas and 226 hotel rooms at the Hotel der Baer.
The phase one villas include 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom suites, all fully furnished. Each of the suites features a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, deck or patio, living area with fireplace and flat-screen TV, and a jetted tub in the master bath. Guests also have the option of staying in one of the double queen guest rooms. Rates begin at $118/night for a single room and $550/night for a three-bedroom suite.
Nestled in the picturesque Heber Valley, guests staying at Zermatt's first phase villas will have access to the area's winter activities, including skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing and snow tubing at Soldier Hollow, site of the Cross Country and Biathalon events for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Zermatt is also located near the town of Park City and its three winter resorts -- Deer Valley Resort, The Canyons Resort and Park City Mountain Resort.
When complete, Zermatt Resort & Spa will include Hotel der Baer; the Chateau Hotel Villas; the Matterhorn Conference Center, with more than 28,000 square feet of space; the Mountain Rose spa; and other amenities including two restaurants, shopping and golf.
Zermatt will feature the only executive putting course in Utah. Designed for families and for teaching, the course offers 18 holes that are lighted for night play.
In addition, 90 holes of golf are within five minutes of the resort. Wasatch Mountain State Park offers two 18-hole layouts consistently ranked among the most popular and scenic in Utah. Also nearby are the two Soldier Hollow courses, the parkland Silver Course and the mountain Gold Course. And finally is the Bruce Summerhays-designed Homestead Course.
