JACKSON, Wyo. -- Tom Weiskopf has completed a new championship course at the Snake River Sporting Club. The 7,500 yard, par-72 course is scheduled to open this summer.

Weiskopf considers this course, designed to capture the spectacular views of the winding Snake River Canyon and fronting the Bridger-Teton National Forest, his best U.S. design to date. He created it using the highest standards of environmental and sustainable design, which has already earned it a Signature Sanctuary designation by Audubon International.

The course was built exclusively for members of the new Snake River Sporting Club, which is nearing completion by DPS Development Co. It will be one of only two private courses in all of Teton County.

The new Weiskopf course features bluegrass fairways and bent grass greens. It was designed to highlight the natural beauty of the property -- only seven of the 18 holes will have home sites. True to Weiskopf form, each hole has its own identity. He incorporated large ponderosas, stands of firs and cottonwood trees, among other natural foliage, to create a course whose challenges and pleasures are inseparable from the landscape.

"From the start, we were blessed with an extraordinary setting, so we did everything possible to capture these natural elements and the beauty of the Snake River in our design," said Weiskopf. "It was a pleasure working on this design."

The 554-acre parcel is surrounded on three sides by Bridger-Teton National Forest and boasts an unheard-of 6.5 miles of frontage along the Snake River, considered one of the region's best flyfishing waterways. In addition to golf, other sporting pursuits that will be available onsite are heliskiing, floating and rafting along the Snake River, equestrian activities, world-class fly fishing, squash, and tennis.

Offered in several phases, the sporting club will release 130 homes priced between $1.25 million and $2.5 million. There will also be a limited number of private equity club memberships available to non-homeowners.
