POCONO MOUNTAINS, Pa. -- The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort has opened its nine-hole Tillinghast Approach Golf Course, the first lighted course in the area's 20-course golf cooperative.

Situated on the grounds of the resort -- which also includes the 27-hole championship golf club, with nine holes originally designed by legendary golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast -- the Tillinghast Approach Golf Course (TAGC) offers first-come, first-serve playing opportunities.

Each of the nine holes is modeled after the greens and bunkering from other famous Tillinghast designs including Winged Foot, site of the recent U.S. Open, Baltusrol and San Francisco Golf Club. The new course offers novice golfers an opportunity to build confidence and develop their skill while providing more experienced players a chance to fine-tune their short game.

The first tee time is 5:30 p.m. ET and the last at 9:30 p.m. ET. Because of the course's 682-yard length, only walking is allowed. The midweek rate is $12 per person and weekend rate is $15, with 50 percent off offered for same-day replays.
