WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. -- Kalahari Resorts has purchased Trappers Turn Golf Club, one of Wisconsin's top-ranked golf courses, company officials have announced. Opened in 1991, Trappers Turn was formerly owned by Robert and Patty Francis of Green Lake, Wis. Designed by two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North and golf course architect Roger Packard, Trappers Turn has earned a 4 1/2-star rating from Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" and is the only course in the Wisconsin Dells area to achieve such a rating. The 27-hole facility has hosted such events as the Wisconsin State Open and several Wisconsin PGA Championships. Kalahari, open since May 2000, is known for its indoor and outdoor waterparks and is the home of the largest indoor waterpark in the United States. It offers the state's largest hotel with 740 guest rooms and suites as well as a 100,000-square-foot convention center. The 540-acre Trappers Turn is located five miles from Kalahari. "Our goal at Kalahari is to give guests a complete family getaway experience. While our amazing waterparks and everything under-one-roof amenities continue to impress our guests, adding championship golf will greatly enhance Kalahari's offerings," said Todd Nelson, president and CEO of Kalahari Resorts. "Trappers Turn combines the challenge of a championship design with a playability that golfers of all levels can readily enjoy." Copyright 2006 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
