LONDON -- The Northwick Park Golf Course has opened in the Watford Road section of London. The course, built on the site of a reclaimed garbage dump, is unique in that it contains only six holes that will take golfers only about an hour to play.

Few though they may be, the holes are memorable -- they are based on such famous holes as the "Postage Stamp" eighth hole at Troon in Scotland, the 12th at Royal Birkdale in England, the sixth at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles and even the 12th at Augusta National.

The facility, produced by former British Amateur champion Peter McEvoy and his partner David Piggins, also includes a state-of-the-art, 60-bay, two-tier driving range, short game academy, indoor golf school, restaurant and golf shop. It also boasts the a course designed exclusively for children.

Located near the Harrow Road station on the London Underground system, Northwick Park is envisioned as the first of a network of facilities that will feature golf as well as multiple sports attractions such as baseball and football, in modern and imaginative environments.
