The Caribbean island of Jamaica is getting a new resort. Rose Hall Developments and the Resort Properties Group are developing The Palmyra Resort & Spa at Rose Hall, touted as the first luxury beachfront condo hotel in Jamaica. The resort is expected to open near the end of 2006.

Located next to the Ritz-Carlton resort on 16 acres of waterfront land in Montego Bay, The Palmyra will stretch along a half mile of Caribbean ocean and include exclusive access to the resort for second-home owners and tourists looking for a luxury condo rental.

Rose Hall Developments over the years has transformed 5,000 acres of a former English colonial sugar plantation into the popular Rose Hall Plantation. The development includes the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Robert von Hagge's White Witch and Cinnamon Hill Oceanfront courses and Robert Trent Jones' Half Moon course.

The Rollins family, owner of Rose Hall Developments, is credited with jumpstarting Jamaica's revival, attracting public and private investments, and improving the island through restoration, philanthropy and infrastructure. Michele Rollins, attorney and former Miss USA, oversees the development of the family's land, bought in the 1970s by late American philanthropist John Rollins Sr.

The real estate offering includes 26 villas, with prices from $1.6 to $2 million for 2,528-square-foot units, and 504 one-, two- and three-bedroom condominium units from 716 to 2,181 square feet with prices from the mid $300s to $1.9 million for a penthouse unit.

In addition to the golf courses, guests of The Palmyra will have access to the 20,000-square-foot ESPA Spa, tennis center and three pools.
