Nicklaus Design and Baha Mar Development Company Ltd. are partnering to create a golf course at Baha Mar's new multi-billion-dollar development on Nassau's Cable Beach in the Bahamas.

Under the agreement, Nicklaus Design will create a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course as the centerpiece of Baha Mar's phase one development of its planned $1.6 billion mega-resort.

Baha Mar is a 1,000-acre, mixed-use destination resort complex that is reportedly the largest resort investment in Bahamas history. Phase one of the Caribbean-inspired property will include more than 2,000 guest rooms across multiple branded hotels and the Caribbean's largest casino. In addition, Baha Mar will feature several restaurants and retail outlets, a spa, water park and entertainment venues for live performances.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course will be located on the property and will be accessible via a specially designed waterway.

According to Baha Mar officials, the Nicklaus deal is one of "many high-profile relationships" the company is engaging in as part of its quest to develop an unprecedented resort in the Caribbean region.

In addition to the resort, Baha Mar Development also owns and operates the Wyndham Nassau Resort, Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort and Nassau Beach Hotel situated side-by-side along the 3,000-foot Cable Beach, the largest in Nassau.

The three properties, the 35,000-square-foot Crystal Palace Casino, and adjoining golf course were recently acquired by Baha Mar, which is currently investing $15 million in cross-property renovations. The three resorts are being operated as one, sharing a host of guest services and amenities including golf, tennis and casino privileges.
