AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- La Perla International Living has purchased the Jolly Harbour golf and beach resort on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Jolly Harbour was one of the first multi-purpose resorts in the Caribbean, offering residences both for sale and holiday rentals in the style of an all-in community. Established by Swiss entrepreneur Alfred Erhart, the canal-lined community is widely considered the most popular resort on Antigua. Jolly Harbour features an 18-hole, par-71 layout designed by Karl Litton. Set in a tropical parkland near the Super Yacht Terminal, the course includes seven lakes and features views of both the sea and the mountains. La Perla plans to enhance Jolly Harbour's current facilities and develop new residential properties within the community. The golf course is slated for an upgrade, as are the marina and commercial center. In addition, resort officials plan to offer more than 100 plots on a peninsula in the middle of the resort -- about half of them are right on the water. They've also designated 20 plots, some of them beachfront, on and adjacent to Reeds Point, a hill that extends out into the sea, for new home construction. Established in 1995, La Perla International Living owns and operates international resorts and residential real estate in numerous locations on the Spanish Costa del Sol, in the French Dordogne and in the Austrian Alps. The company continues to expand soon, with further developments in Switzerland, Vietnam and Panama planned for the near future. Copyright 2005 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
