FAR HILLS, N.J. (AP) -- George "Buddy" Marucci has been selected by the USGA as captain of the U.S. Walker Cup team for the second time.

Marucci is to lead a group of American amateurs against Great Britain and Ireland at his home course of Merion Golf Club in 2009.

The 55-year-old Marucci lost to Tiger Woods in the final of the 1995 U.S. Amateur. He was captain of the 2007 team that claimed a one-point victory over Great Britain and Ireland in September. The Americans hold a 33-7-1 record in the series.

Marucci has qualified for more than 45 USGA championships, including 23 U.S. Amateurs. He was a Walker Cup team member in 1995 and 1997.
