WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio -- Seventeen-year-old Emma Cabrera-Bello of Maspalomas, Spain, collected her first victory in the United States Saturday in the 2003 Westfield Junior PGA Championship while Phillip Bryan of Mustang, Okla., cruised to a win at Westfield Group Country Club.

Cabrera-Bello finished with a 3-under-par 281 in her wire-to-wire victory. Though her 10-stoke lead going into the final round was diminished to two strokes after turning in a final round score of 5-over-par 76, Cabrera-Bello still claimed victory over Jennie Lee of Huntington Beach, Calif., who shot a final round 5-under-par 66 for a Championship total of 1-under-par 283.

"This is great. I couldn't hit a ball on the golf course, but I mean it is nice. I had a 10-stroke lead to be calm, but it was hard," said Cabrera-Bello, whose best finish in the United States had been a second at The 2002 Doral Junior event in Miami, Fla. "It is a great tournament and the way you are treated here, you won't find anywhere else. I would love to come again next year, but I will be too old. It is a wonderful experience and I will never forget this."

Sukjin Lee Wuesthoff of Toms River, N.J., finished alone in third place at 3-over-par 287.

In the boys' division, Bryan, 17, lost one stroke of his third-round lead to finish with a final round 1-over-par 72 for a Championship total of 5-under-par 279. Bryan gained the lead on the second day and never looked back.

"It (winning) is pretty big. I have never played in anything this big, and I have definitely never won anything this big," said Bryan, who adds this victory to his resume, which this season already includes the 2003 Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series event in Houston, Texas. "My game plan was to try to go out and shoot four or five under par. I figured if I did that no one would been able to catch me. I hung on and shot one over par and no one else got hot."

James Sacheck, 17, of Zionsville, Ind., finished in second place with a final round score of 1-under-par 70 for a Championship total of 2-under-par 282. Finishing in third place was first-round leader Webb Simpson, 17, of Raleigh, N.C., who scored a 1-under-par 283 for the Championship.

The Westfield Junior PGA Championship, which concluded on Saturday, is one of junior golf's major championships and has been the steppingstone for many prominent junior golfers.
