BEAUMONT, Calif. -- Robert DeRuntz of Rancho Santa Fe extended his lead to three strokes with a 3-under 69 in the second round Tuesday in the PGA Western Stroke Play Championship at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club.

DeRuntz made five birdies (Nos. 1, 4, 13, 16 and 17) and bogeyed the sixth and 15th holes on the 7,129-yard Champions Course, adding to his opening round 67 for a two-day total of 8-under 136 in the three day tournament.
Jeff Cranford of LaQuinta is second heading into the final round Wednesday with 70-139. He was tied for second at 69 Monday, two strokes behind DeRuntz.
The Stroke Play is the last of three events in the third annual Callaway Golf PGA Western Winter Championships. There were 62 entries.
