BEAUMONT, Calif. -- Robert DeRuntz of Rancho Sante Fe fired a 5-under-par 67 Monday for the first-round lead in the third annual PGA Western Stroke Play Championship. DeRuntz had only eight pars but at least one of almost everything else.

His Champions Course card from the PGA of Southern California Golf Club listed an eagle at the par-5 fourth hole, birdies at Nos. 5, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 18, bogeys at the second and seventh holes and a double-bogey at the par-4 14th.
The last of the three 54-hole tournaments that comprise the Callaway Golf PGA Western Winter Championships drew 62 entries. Play continues through Wednesday on the course playing 7,129 yards.
