BEAUMONT, Calif. -- The Colorado twosome of Mike Zaremba of Pueblo and Micah Rudosky of Cortez was awarded the title Saturday when sleet and snow forced cancellation of the final round of the PGA Western Senior-Junior Championship at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club.

Zaremba and Rudosky were the first- and second-round leaders in the four-ball stroke-play format with 60-63-123 on the Champions Course. They led by four strokes after the first round, and by eight after the second. Zaremba and Rudosky earned $2,000 apiece from the $16,000 purse.

"It started out as a light rain," said Mark Tschetschot, the director of member tournaments for the PGA of America. "Then it started to hail, then snow. There was a light blanket of snow on the ground. It melted enough for the leaders to tee off. Then it started to sleet and snow again. The forecast was for more of the same later in the day."

The Senior-Junior was the second of three tournaments that comprise the third annual Callaway Golf PGA Western Winter Championships. The final event, the Western Stroke Play Championship, scheduled Monday through Wednesday completes the program. There were 24 teams in the Senior-Junior.
