BEAUMONT, Calif. -- Mike Zaremba and Micah Rudosky doubled their lead from four to eight strokes Friday with a 9-under-par 63 in the second round of the third annual PGA Western Senior-Junior Championship on the Champions Course at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club.
The Colorado team enjoyed its second straight bogey-free day as Zaremba, of Pueblo, the senior, birdied Nos. 4, 5 and 7, four in a row starting at the ninth, then closed with birdies at the 14th and 16th holes. Rudosky, of Cortez, kept their round going with par saves at the second, third, eighth, 13th and 15th holes.

Heading into the final round Saturday, Zaremba and Rudosky lead by 123 to 131 over Greg Harmon of Mesa, Ariz., and Bob Sowards of Columbus, Ohio, still the runners-up after a 67 in the four-ball stroke-play format. Sowards has been the PGA Club Professional Player of the Year for the past three years.
The Senior-Junior, which drew 24 teams, is the second of three events in the Callaway Golf PGA Western Winter Championships. The brief season ends Mar. 13-15 with the Stroke Play Championship. The leaders (senior, 50 and over, listed first):
