PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The PGA Professionals' Guide to Travel annual magazine, which for the past two years has helped highlight the influence and expertise of PGA Professionals in the area of golf travel, will be joined next month by an exciting new online component accessible through PGA.com.
When The PGA Professionals' Guide to Travel goes live on January 16, as part of the Travel section of PGA.com, the 1 million unique monthly visitors to the Official Web Site of The PGA of America will be able to tap into a whole new golf travel resource. The site will allow golfers considering future travel to gain more information from the people who know more about the $12 million golf travel market than anyone: PGA Professionals from around the country.
"This site will leverage the expertise of PGA Professionals across the country and allow their facilities to reach the avid golfers who are the core of the golf travel business ? golfers who already visit PGA.com on a regular basis," says Richard K. Summers, president and CEO of the PGA Magazine family of publications, which has partnered with The PGA of America and Turner Sports on the new Web site.
"Our mission is to continually identify and build exclusive features that make planning golf travel a more enjoyable and easier experience for golfers. By doing so, we help golfers get more out of their travel experiences and help PGA Professionals attract more travelers to their facilities."
The new online presence will both promote the travel acumen of PGA members and provide visitors the means to learn about hundreds of destinations and facilities managed by PGA Professionals. It will feature new and exclusive travel content from PGA Professionals and from PGA Magazine, as well as the latest in golf-related travel news from the world's top resorts and golf destinations.
PGA members will be able to use the site as a resource for helping members, customers and themselves plan golf travel. The site also will allow PGA Professionals to publicize their facilities to traveling golfers.
"Whether they travel with customers or work at one of the many resorts or other facilities that rely on out-of-state guests to supplement their local rounds, PGA Professionals play a critical role in influencing where people play and where they stay," says PGA of America CEO Joe Steranka. "Through The PGA Professionals' Guide to Travel, the influence of PGA Professionals will be considerably expanded."
