More than 500 golf enthusiasts took advantage of Play Golf America activities on-site at the PGA Tour's Ginn Sur Mer Classic, Oct. 24-28, at the Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Despite inclement weather through most of the week, Play Golf America participants were able to dodge the raindrops as 14 South Florida PGA Professionals provided 264 free 10-minute lessons to 264 amateur golfers consisting of 165 men, 51 women and 50 beginner golfers.

Additionally, visitors were treated to PGA of America history, having the opportunity to view items on display, courtesy of the PGA Historical Center in Port St. Lucie.

The display featured the Wanamaker Trophy, awarded annually to the PGA Champion; a replica of the Ryder Cup and the original Ryder Cup carrying case and a replica of the Masters trophy, along with such items as putters dating to 1884.

Two inflatable bays were used for the individual lessons and group clinics for two to eight persons.

Play Golf America is an industry-wide national marketing campaign developed and led by The PGA of America to increase participation among new and existing golfers and to grow the number of people who play the game.
