AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Facts and figures for the Masters:

Event: The 70th Masters Tournament.
Dates: April 6-9.
Site: Augusta National Golf Club.
Length: 7,445 yards.
Par: 36-36--72.
Changes: The club changed six holes, mainly by lengthening them -- No. 1 (20 yards), No. 4 (35 yards), No. 7 (40 yards), No. 11 (15 yards), No. 15 (30 yards) and No. 17 (15 yards). Also, a tongue was added to the fairway bunker on No. 1, and more trees were added to the right side of the 11th fairway.
Format: 72 holes of stroke play, sudden death playoff if necessary.
Purse: To be determined ($7 million in 2005).
Field: 87 professionals, 5 amateurs.
Sitting out: Kenny Perry (knee surgery), Ryan Moore (hand injury).
Defending champion: Tiger Woods.

Last year: Woods delivered drama that will live forever in Masters lore, and got some drama he didn't need. Clinging to a one-shot lead, his chip from behind the 16th green scooted up the slope, then trickled down toward the hole and hung on the lip 2 seconds before it dropped. Woods then chopped up the next two holes to make bogey and slip into a playoff with Chris DiMarco. He won on the first extra hole, hitting 8-iron into 15 feet on the 18th for a birdie to win his fourth Masters.

Forty years ago: Jack Nicklaus became the first back-to-back winner of the Masters with a playoff victory over Tommy Jacobs and Gay Brewer.

Twenty years ago: In perhaps the most popular Masters in the modern era, Jack Nicklaus shot 30 on the back nine and closed with a 65 to win his sixth green jacket, and the last of his 18 professional majors.

Ten years ago: In one of the most famous collapses at Augusta National, Greg Norman lost a six-shot lead by shooting 78, and Nick Faldo closed with a 67 to win by five for his third green jacket.

Key statistic: Augusta National is 7,445 yards, the second-longest course for a major championship behind Whistling Straits (7,514 yards) at the 2004 PGA Championship.

Noteworthy: Gay Brewer in 1967 is the only player to win the Masters a year after losing in a playoff.

Quoteworthy: "I wonder if he would approve." -- Arnold Palmer, when asked whether Bobby Jones would recognize today's version of Augusta National.
