Dad-to-be Harrington might make a quick dash to and from Oak Hill

The Irishman's wife is due to give birth the day after the PGA Championship, so he might not arrive until the day before the start.

DUBLIN, Ireland (PA) -- Padraig Harrington may well go into next month's PGA Championship without a single practice round.

The Irishman's wife Caroline is due to give birth to their first child the day after the event. But because she might go into labor early, Harrington says he might not fly to Rochester, N.Y., until the day before the start.

"We've discussed it and I'll basically go out with the same attitude as Nick (Faldo) had last week," said Harrington. "I want to play and if I'm playing great then I'll stay. But if not then it's only an overnight flight for me to get back."

The only knowledge Harrington has of the Oak Hill course comes from watching the 1995 Ryder Cup.

"I remember the last three holes of Philip Walton's match, and David Gilford trying to chip and putt at the last. Maybe I should get the video."
