HAVEN, Wis. (Sports Network) -- U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen and two-time PGA Championship winner Nick Price have withdrawn from the 86th PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. Goosen, who captured his second U.S. Open title in June at Shinnecock Hills, will miss the final major of 2004 as he continues to recover from a jet-ski injury. Goosen, who was also forced to pull out of the International, will be replaced in the field by Brian Bateman. Nick Price, who won the PGA Championship in 1992 and 1994, has withdrawn citing family obligations. This is the second straight year that Price will skip the PGA Championship because of family reasons. Price also dropped out of the event in 1991, when John Daly earned his breakthrough major. Brett Quigley will take Price's spot in the field for the PGA Championship, which tees off Thursday. Shaun Micheel is the defending champion. Copyright (c)2004 Sports Network. All rights reserved.
