KOHLER, Wis. -- Tickets for the 2004 PGA Championship went on sale Apr. 30, PGA of America officials have announced. The 86th PGA Championship will be played Aug. 9-15, 2004, at Whistling Straits in Kohler.

Last April, The PGA launched a general public e-mail-based ticket sales campaign to attract those interested in receiving an opportunity to purchase tickets before they officially went on sale. In all, nearly 50,000 registrants have been given the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Championship in advance of Apr. 30.

"Based on the success of the advanced registration ticket sale, it's safe to say that the demand for tickets in this market is unprecedented," said Barry Deach, tournament director for the 2004 PGA Championship. "You have all the makings for one of the most anticipated sporting events in the history of the state."

Beginning Apr. 30, tickets may be purchased by calling 800-PGA-GOLF or ordering online at www.PGA2004.com.

The PGA Championship, the season's final major, perennially features the strongest field in golf. Rich Beem will defend his current PGA Championship crown in the 2003 PGA Championship this summer at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y.
