PGA Professional Rick Smith has introduced the Rick Smith Golf Institute at the Omni Interlocken Resort and Golf Club in Broomfield, Colo. Smith is ranked as one of Golf Digest's top five golf instructors and coach to some of the top PGA Tour pros in the world, including Phil Mickelson, and two-time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen.

The institute is the first of a planned network of ground-breaking golf training centers, said Smith. For the first time, he said, all golfers, from beginners to elite competitors, will be able to benefit from the same holistic approach to golf improvement that PGA Tour and LPGA Tour pros use, including the latest technologies, swing enhancement techniques, on-course instruction, and fitness, nutrition and flexibility programs -- all at one location.

The Rick Smith Golf Institute has begun operations at the Colorado facility with 23 programs, each specifically designed for a particular segment of the golfing population, including beginners, juniors, women, executives and elite competitors. The Institute will also offer an array of specialty services, including golf etiquette classes and programs designed to help executives conduct business on the golf course.

"Unlike most golf schools around the country, which cater to one or two segments of the golfing public, we are targeting all golfers with a passionate desire to improve. To that end, we have designed programs for more golfing segments than any other golf school or academy in the country," said Ben Addoms, chief executive officer of the Rick Smith Golf Institute.

The Omni Interlocken Golf Club, located between downtown Denver and Boulder, has been ranked the No. 1 corporate facility in Colorado and is home to a 12-acre state-of-the-art practice facility. Students will have their own private practice area at a site overlooking the Golf Club and have access to the Omni's 27-holes for on-course instruction.

"Most golf schools in the marketplace today are 'mechanics-based.' Their philosophy is that everybody should swing the same way, every time," Addoms explained. "Rick Smith has a 'feel-based' approach to golf. All golfers are different, physiologically, mentally and emotionally. As such, you need to start with these differences and build a swing and overall golf game that fits the individual's uniqueness."
