Playing off the success of its Rossa putter line, TaylorMade-adidas Golf is introducing the Monza. The new mallet-style putter, company officials said, incorporates a superior linear alignment system for improved accuracy and improved launch conditions for consistently better roll.

A large, deep, trapezoidal-shaped mallet, the Monza incorporates two distinctive red CGB (Center of Gravity Back) Pipes positioned perpendicular to the clubface and bisected by a white sight-line, company officials said. These elements, they said, work together to provide an optical tool that helps the player to build a clear image of the target line and helps consistently aim the putterface correctly, and swing the putterhead down the target line.

The Monza's CGB Pipes are constructed of Titallium and precision-filled with tungsten. In addition, TMaG officials said, the length and weighting of the pipes permit a shift of more than 100 grams from the front of the putterhead to the rear.

This shift, they explained, moves the center of gravity back in the putterhead, positively altering launch conditions by increasing the launch angle while producing almost no backspin. The result, they said, is a smooth, almost bounceless roll off the putterface.

The Monza (which carries a suggested retail price of $180) also boasts a soft-yet-solid feel, due in part to its renowned Titallium insert technology, and in part to its design, which positions significant mass -- including the pipes -- directly behind the ball.

"It's our opinion that Monza's linear alignment system is far more effective than alignment systems that employ circular shapes," said Sean Toulon, Vice President of Global Product and Brand Creation. "Plus, we designed the Monza to be visually appealing, not awkward-looking like certain other putters in this category."

The Monza is precision-forged of high-strength, 6061 aluminum and finished in a rich black color via a precision anodizing process that enhances durability and cosmetic appeal, officials said. The putter includes a red and black Medallist grip with Diamond traction, made by Winn, and a new Rossa red-and-black headcover.
