Dunlop Golf will begin shipping its new LoCo Pro golf ball -- the ball John Daly used to win the Buick Invitational earlier this year in San Diego -- on May 28.
Carrying a suggested retail price of $29.99 per dozen, the LoCo Pro is Dunlop's first foray into multi-layer urethane balls. The ball, according to Dunlop, offers great distance off the tee and the soft feel necessary for control on approach shots into and around the green.
"Ever since John won the Buick Invitational in his very first week using the LoCo Pro ball, our phones have been ringing off the hook with requests for it," said Dan Murphy, Director of Marketing, Focus Golf Systems, Inc., the design arm of Dunlop Golf.
In addition, Dunlop is unveiling the LoCo Pro HT ball, which officials said is a three-piece solid urethane ball designed for low handicap players with moderate swing speeds. Dunlop said the LoCo Pro HT is engineered to maximize energy transfer from the driver, giving it a high-trajectory launch with low spin off of the tee but soft feel and control on approach shots.
The LoCo Pro HT features a 272-dimple pattern that, according to Dunlop, is designed to get the ball in the air quickly and provide additional carry for moderate swing speeds. The reduced compression Polybutadiene core and thin urethane cover, Dunlop said, deliver excellent check and feel around the greens.
"In its simplest terms, the LoCo Pro HT is designed for golfers who want the same high performance benefits as the LoCo Pro, but do not generate as much club head speed as John Daly to take advantage of those benefits," said Murphy. "LoCo Pro HT is the perfect ball for low handicappers who look for distance, but don't want to sacrifice the feel and workability that good players rely on."
The LoCo Pro HT also begins shipping May 28 with a suggested retail price of $29.99 per dozen.
