Graphite Design International is introducing its high-performance PM line of golf shafts for drivers and fairway woods, company officials have announced. The new shafts are suited for players with higher club head speeds, according to the company, and feature stiffer bend profiles throughout the length, higher kick points, lower torques and more active tips than customary shafts.

The innovative design keeps spins lower, improves launch and yields a penetrating trajectory, GDI officials said.

Before the PM shafts were offered to distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and golfers, company officials said, they underwent two years of extensive testing by PGA Tour players and everyday golfers. The tests revealed that all the different types of golfers experienced substantial game improvement in the form of increased accuracy, distance, balance, control and impact feedback.

"PM" stands for "Prototype Model," the acronym GDI dubbed when creating the shafts. The shafts are available in a 70-gram S flex and a 73-gram X flex and carry a suggested retail price of $250 each. GDI said PM shafts been used in 10 victories on the PGA Tour this year.
