After several months of play on the professional tours, shaft manufacturer Graphite Design International is launching its premium Tour AD graphite shafts for hybrid woods and irons in the United States. The Tour AD Hybrid shaft line includes four performance-engineered models: the UT 55 and 65 for hybrid woods and the UT 85 and 95 for hybrid irons. GDI said each shaft features its proprietary Ultra-High Modulus Material and "Accuracy" and "Distance" technology. The UT-55 shaft, according to the company, is a lightweight (58 grams), low-kick point, mid-torque shaft that produces higher launch angles for maximum distance. The 44-inch shaft is available in R and S flexes with .350" tip diameters and carries a suggested retail price of $209 The UT-65 (69 grams) is a low-kick point, low-torque shaft designed for players with low to medium swing speeds. The 44-inch shaft is available in R and S flexes with .350" tip diameters with a SRP of $209. The UT-85, GDI said, is specifically for hybrid irons, with a mid kick point and low torque. The 42-inch shaft is available in 84-, 85- and 86-gram weights, in R, S, and X flexes with .350" tip diameters and carries a SRP of $164. The UT-95, according to GTI, also is engineered for hybrid irons, and has a mid kick point and low torque in 90 grams of weight. GDI said the UT-95 is designed for players who like the heavier feel of steel shafts. The 42-inch shaft is available in R, S, and X flexes with .350" tip diameters and carries a SRP of $164.
