PGA Professionals are now able to efficiently liquidate golf club trade-ins via a PGA of America-sanctioned storefront in cooperation with eBay. At a launch event in Times Square Studios in New York on June 8, PGA Professional Golf Liquidations on eBay became available to consumers and PGA Professionals at www.ebay.com/pga.
PGA Tour Professionals Jonathan Kaye, Woody Austin, John Rollins and Jason Bohn were on hand to demonstrate the system and to donate their clubs with proceeds from their sale benefiting The First Tee charity.
eBay, 3balls.com and PGA.com officially introduced the PGA.com Value Guide in early 2004 as the standard pricing guide for fair and accurate used golf club market values. The PGA.com Value Guide, at www.pga.com/valueguide, has been successful in helping thousands of consumers assess the value of their golf clubs for trade-in and locate the nearest participating PGA Professional via the PGA Trade-In Network Authorized Facility Locator.
"The launch of PGA Professional Golf Liquidations on eBay provides PGA Professionals the opportunity to create additional profits by selling the pre-owned clubs they take in on trade," said Phil Sharpe, Senior Vice President of Turner Sports Interactive, which produces and manages PGA.com. "Both PGA Professionals and golfers will benefit from this industry initiative."
PGA Professionals who are members of the PGA Trade-In Network will have access to an easy-to-use listing tool at www.pgalinks.com/tradein. The listing tool now makes it possible for PGA Professionals to list clubs on eBay via a high-profile storefront, managed by 3balls.com in association with PGA.com, called PGA Professional Golf Liquidations on eBay. Selling clubs on eBay gives the PGA Professionals access to the largest online marketplace for golf equipment in the world.
"With the introduction of PGA Professional Golf Liquidations on eBay, PGA Professionals are offered a storefront with direct access to millions of new consumers. This further expands the breadth of golf club merchandise available to consumers via eBay," said Drew Marich, director of the sports category on eBay.
"In collaboration with eBay, PGA.com and The PGA of America, 3Balls.com has created an infrastructure that makes golf club trade-ins, purchases and resale easy for consumers and PGA Professionals alike," said Leigh Bader, a two-time PGA National Merchandiser of the Year and president of 3balls.com.
