West Coast Trends, Inc., makers of the Club Glove line of golf travel bags, is showing "new-found success'' in stand bags with its new Aficionado II and Collegiate II, company officials said. Unlike other stand bags, the Aficionado II and Collegiate II stand bags are fully convertible, they explained.
The bags' modular design comes with external pockets that snap on and off the chassis, West Coast Trends officials said, allowing a golfer to customize to his or her preference while maintaining the clean, seamless appearance expected in a premium stand bag. Golfers can choose between a fully geared-up bag for the elements or a Sunday bag weighing under five pounds.
"When people realize what these bags can do, they become even more of a value than ever expected," said West Coast Trends President Jeff Herold. "We've had tremendous success with both stand bags since we introduced them earlier this year."
The Aficionado II, the company said, features multiple pocket configurations for whatever conditions exist at the course. Three pockets are completely removable, including a pleated drink-holder pocket, a gear pack and two interchangeable pockets -- one with an insulated nutrition pocket and the other with a space for a cell phone, sunglasses and cigars.
The bag also features the IZZO Dual Strap with unique shoulder molds for customized comfort. It is the only dual strap that converts to a single strap, company officials said.
The Collegiate II is simple, straightforward and streamlined for those who don't need all the bells and whistles of the Aficionado II. This premium bag includes the IZZO Dual Strap, and two of its pockets are completely removable.
Both bags include the "Never Without Your Bag" Warranty. Interchangeable components make it easy for customers to simply call and have a replacement part sent out immediately.
The company said both bag styles can be embroidered and are available in Navy, Red, Hunter Green, Khaki, Grey, Black and Metallic Mocha. The Aficionado II has an suggested retail price of $179, while the Collegiate II retails for $139.
