Softspikes, Inc., which 10 years ago introduced its first alternative spike to the golf industry, is now introducing Pulsar, its newest generation of alternative spike. Pulsar is "the most comfortable high performance golf cleat ever developed," company officials said, and has the appearance of a star with flex properties that depict a pulsating action. Pulsar, according to Softspikes, features its Reactive Comfort Technology that delivers improved comfort and performance via a 16-component design that reacts to every angle of force exerted by the golfer. As part of this design, "flexor knuckles" placed at the flex point on each of Pulsar's eight legs offers enhanced strength, responsiveness and more than twice the flexibility of any cleat on the market, officials said. In addition, Softspikes said reinforced arched webbing between each of Pulsar's legs delivers instant energy return every time the cleat is compressed. "Reactive Comfort Technology allows Pulsar to exhibit a spring-like effect that takes in and disperses the shock, while returning maximum energy each time the cleat is compressed," said Faris McMullin, Director of Research and Development for Softspikes, Inc. "Because of the proprietary nature of this cleat, there is simply no other product that can deliver the comfort and stability of Pulsar." Pulsar will be available beginning Aug. 1 (suggested retail price $14.95 per set) in a metallic silver color and featuring a color-coded system for consumers to easily identify the proper thread insert system. Silver and green cleats will be for golf shoes offering the Fast-Twist insert system, silver and red cleats will be for shoes featuring metal thread inserts and while silver and purple cleats will be for shoes requiring Q-FIT cleats.
