While some companies are shying away from deep-rooted involvement in The PGA Merchandise Show, count Ashworth Inc. (NASDAQ: ASHW) as one company fully committed to the world's largest golf trade show, scheduled to be held Jan. 29-Feb. 1 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
Ashworth Inc., one of the golf apparel industry's more visible names, will be leading off the 2004 PGA Merchandise Show with a runway fashion show, followed with a party for all invitees. The fashion show will showcase the company's two Fall/Holiday '04 lines -- Ashworth apparel and Callaway Golf apparel. Ashworth Inc. is the official licensee of Callaway Golf apparel.
"The original purpose of tradeshows was to not only showcase the latest in product, but more importantly, they present an opportunity for building strong relationships. In addition, the apparel industry has a history of infusing energy and excitement into the tradeshow arena. Our goal is to bring back some of that energy as we build and strengthen existing and future relationships in 2004," said Ashworth President Randy Herrel.
Ashworth Inc. has a history of strong support for The PGA of America. A longtime contributor to the PGA Retirement Plus Program, the company also lends its support to PGA section tournaments.
In celebration of 17 successful years in the golf business, the company said it will be making a "significant contribution" to The PGA of America to further promote the game.
"All successful companies need to consistently focus their message. We feel that there's no better place than the PGA Show to demonstrate our vision for the new year, and that vision clearly is not only about great product, but also includes increased support for the game itself," said Gary Sims, Vice President of Sales for Ashworth Inc.
