Adidas Golf has introduced a new line of men's golf shirts targeted at what company officials call "sophisticated, athletic players.'' The new line combines adidas' ClimaLite technology with mercerization, the union of which results in an apparel concept that adidas Golf calls "luxury-performance."
In terms of luxury, adidas officials said, the Mercerized ClimaLite line features a sleek, modern fit with a slightly shorter sleeve and narrower body, while the color palette is both sophisticated and elegant.
From a performance perspective, the company said, ClimaLite fabric technology wicks sweat away from the skin to the outer fabric face for quick evaporation, keeping the golfer drier and cooler. The result, according to adidas, is a shirt that fits well, looks stylish and keeps the player cooler, drier and more comfortable.
"Our new Mercerized ClimaLite line is designed to be sophisticated in styling and technical in function," says Casey Waid, Director of Apparel for adidas Golf, "which is why we've labeled it 'luxury-performance.'"
Ward said an added benefit is that adidas Golf's new Mercerized ClimaLite shirts are easy to care for -- machine wash cold and tumble dry low -- with an extremely low shrinkage rate.
The Mercerized ClimaLite line is part of adidas Golf's new FLAGGE product segment, and will feature the new FLAGGE logo on the back neck. Select TaylorMade-adidas Golf PGA Tour Staff professionals will wear the shirts during competition in 2004, and, officials said, an aggressive point-of-purchase and point-of-sale display campaigns will lend support.
The shirts are available in solid, stripe and engineered stripe styles and, the company said, incorporate a variety of additional features, including soft-feeling Mercerized collars; yarn-dyed stripes; cross-stitch pearl buttons, with an extra button sewn into the side seam; and rolled shoulder seams to reduce pressure points and prevent chafing.
Adidas Golf said the Solid Clima Mercerized Pique Polo is made of 65 percent cotton and 35 percent polyester ClimaLite pique, 60/2 mercerized with a hydrophilic finish. It features a two-button placket, full-fashioned rib-knit collar with contrast tipping, set-in sleeve, rib-knit cuffs with contrast tipping and extended back length with vent hem.
