TaylorMade-adidas Golf is introducing two new men's golf shoe models, the Torsion 3-Stripe and Torsion Saddle, company officials have announced. Both shoes, they said, are targeted at avid golfers.

"The Torsion 3-Stripe and Torsion Saddle are replacements for our best-selling shoe of all time, the Tour Traxion, and represent the next generation of lightweight, athletic footwear from adidas Golf," said Brett Joyce, Director of Footwear for adidas Golf.

The Torsion 3-Stripe and Torsion Saddle are engineered with adidas Golf's Torsion Support Bar, a part of the outsole that extends from the heel to the forefoot, officials said. Its function, according to TMaG, is to permit the forefoot and heel to rotate independently during the golf swing, adding to the player's stability and balance, especially when playing from an uneven lie.

The new shoes also incorporate a variety of additional performance features, including adidas Golf's Z-Traxion sole design, featuring 168 points of contact for extreme traction; dual forefoot flex grooves, which are positioned in the outsole and which flex freely with each stride, increasing comfort; and a FitFoam comfort footbed that cradles the food for a snug, comfortable fit.

An additional performance benefit of the Torsion 3-Stripe and Torsion Saddle is their exceptionally light weight, which TMaG said is due in part to their light EVA midsole.

"The Torsion 3-Stripe weighs only 15.5 ounces per shoe, while the Torsion Saddle is even less at 14.4 ounces each," said Joyce. "That translates to more comfort and less fatigue, especially toward the end of the round."

Both models will be offered in wide widths, come with a two-year waterproof warranty, and carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $105. Retail distribution begins Oct. 1, through on- and off-course golf shops.
