There are moments when something that happens in our lives can just kick you in the you know what and it gets you thinking. Perhaps it is true of where your head may be at those moments. Yet it could be quite simply, the hand that has been dealt to you and it's time for you to play it. Perhaps in life we become apathetic and we postpone certain tasks because of the importance of them. The certain outcomes that they may seemingly possess have some sort of a curse over you, vacillating back and forth over what should be done over the situation and never end up making a clear decisions on what to do.
Does this sound familiar to you? Could this be the way you play a round of golf from time to time? With the outcome always hanging by a thread on your lack of steadfast reaction time, could this be the way that you are living your life? Maybe a game of golf is merely a vehicle to help you forget these situations that you so badly procrastinate with their finality. Yet they still rear their ugly head in your golf game. It's funny how you can run but you can't hide, at least not for long. Facing adversity is a huge part of golf and likewise with life, indeed it is what life is most of the time. Here is what the Encarta World English Dictionary says about Adversity: 1. Misfortune: hardship and suffering; 2. Adverse happening: an extremely unfavorable experience or event. The Bible has another way of defining it. Adversity is spoken of many times and no better place to read about it would be in the story of Job, where he meets his Adversary (see also Devil) as it says in my Book. It's interesting to think about it this way. It helps me figure out what is happening when my decisions are weighted down with perhaps too much thought about the adversity I'm facing. The visualized outcome that we sometimes project across the movie screen of our own psyche can be some real negative stuff. Thinking positive can make you feel better but it is sometimes unrealistic under some extreme situations. Sometimes you have to suck it up, get tough and make a clear decision based on some faith that things will work out. Rise above it, and do what is right. Chipping sideways out of the woods can kind of be like taking care of a traffic ticket, talking to an employee about their behavior or maybe a boss about a raise. Perhaps what it is all about is that participating in life and golf can help teach you how. Even when the situation that you face is one of adversity, face it with your faith that whatever decision you make whether on the course or in life, you don't have to worry, just play it as it lies.
