PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- New U.S. Open Champion Geoff Ogilvy, who earned his first major championship last weekend at Winged Foot Golf Club, will make his debut in the season-ending showcase of major champions, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Nov. 21-22, at Poipu Bay Golf Course and Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa in Hawaii.
Ogilvy, the first Australian to gain a PGA Grand Slam of Golf berth since PGA Champion Steve Elkington in 1995, will be joined in the elite foursome by Masters Champion Phil Mickelson, along with the winners of the British Open and PGA Championship.
The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is a 36-hole event televised by TNT, which will be broadcast to a worldwide audience of 89 million U.S. homes and an international audience of more than 100 countries in a prime-time telecast.
This year's major champions will compete on the 7,123-yard, par-72 Robert Trent Jones Jr. layout that has yielded some of golf's most memorable shot-making moments of the past several years.
Mickelson, who tied for second in the U.S. Open, won the 2004 PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Tiger Woods is the defending champion and owns six overall titles at Poipu Bay Golf Course.
This year's purse is $1.25 million with the winner receiving $500,000, second place $300,000, third place $250,000 and fourth place $200,000.
Should a player win more than one major championship this season, the foursome will be completed through a Major Champions Points List composed of past major champions who compete in the current year's majors.
Celebrating its 90th anniversary, The PGA of America was founded in 1916, and is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the game of golf while continuing to enhance the standards of the profession.
