Srixon Sports is adding to its urethane performance technology golf ball line with the Z-URS. The Z-URS ball, according to Srixon, is the same technology platform on which its popular Z-UR is based. The Z-URS already has three victories worldwide this year, Srixon said, including Tim Petrovic's at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The Z-URS, according to Srixon, shares several proprietary Srixon technology features with the Z-UR. Each has what the company calls the world's thinnest cover -- made from membrane-thin, shear resistant urethane-elastomer measuring 0.02-inches thin. The same resilience-enhancing proprietary (PentaBromophenyl) DiSulfide or PBDS is added to the core of the Z-URS for greater velocity, they said, and the same 330-dimple pattern provides high trajectory with a penetrating ball flight for stability in crosswinds and headwinds. The main difference between the Z-URS and the Z-UR, Srixon said, is in the core compression. The new Z-URS features a compression approximately 10 percent lower than that of the Z-UR, company officials said, giving those players who prefer it a softer feel and sound with their irons and on the greens. The Z-URS will be sold exclusively in on- and off-course golf shops and carries a suggested retail price of $55 per dozen. Copyright 2005 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
