MacGregor Golf is complementing its MacTec driver with the introduction of the MacTec NVG fairway metals that feature an exclusive combination of advanced materials technology to create the first-ever dual-density cup face club head with a titanium hosel. An ultra-lightweight 15-3-3-3 Beta Titanium cup face, according to MacGregor, is joined to a heavier 17-4 stainless steel body through an exclusive silver brazing technology, company officials said. This construction combines with a light titanium hosel sleeve to shift weight back deep behind the club face, promoting an easy high launch, lower spin and driver-like distance, they said. The cup face technology, MacGregor said, eliminates all face welding (the brazing occurs on the crown and sole), resulting in a seamless face and greatly expanded hitting surface. The tungsten weighting system, according to MacGregor, creates optimal launch, forgiveness and control. Four tungsten weights totaling 25 grams are strategically placed: Two 10-gram weights are in the low and forward portion of the heel and toe, and two 2.5-gram weights are in the extreme heel and toe. The company said its exclusive Triple-Action shaft, a proprietary two-flex point, three-zone shaft maximizes performance by generating greater swing speed from a golfer's normal swing. The MacTec NVG fairway woods (suggested retail price $299.99) are available in men's strong 3 (12.5 degrees), 3 (15), 5 (18), 7 (21), and 9 (24). Copyright 2005 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
