The new V-Foil M675 irons combine MacGregor Golf's classic forged feel and control with proprietary V-Foil Speed Technology to produce what company officials call the world's most forgiving blades. The M675 forged irons are the first-ever advanced technology muscle backs, MacGregor Chief Executive Officer Barry Schneider said. The long irons deliver higher launch and more forgiveness while the short irons offer maximum feel and workability. V-Foil Speed, Schneider said, is a flexible high-rebound face technology that delivers distance, forgiveness and accuracy. The V-Foil Speed club face, according to Schneider, is harder in the center and softer on the perimeter. On-center shots come off the face faster, Schneider said, producing greater distance; off-center shots come off nearly as fast with little distance loss and with significant forgiveness. Two distinct forged metals are used in the irons: a harder 1045 Carbon Steel in the long irons for greater distance and forgiveness properties, Schneider said, and a softer 1025 Carbon Steel in the short irons for more spin and control. Internal tungsten weight cylinders in the 2- to 4-irons, according to Schneider, create an easy, high launch. Progressive V-Foil backweighting in the short irons, Schneider said, maximizes shot-shaping workability. The V-Foil M675 iron set (suggested retail price $899.99) is available in men's 3-PW with a True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shaft (regular, stiff and extra stiff flexes) and Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips.
