KZG, which scored a big hit with its Gemini driver line, is taking that club's twin-faced technology to fairway woods with the introduction of its Gemini Fairway Woods. The woods, which are available in lofts of 15, 19 and 23 degrees, carry a suggested retail price of $269 (graphite) and $239 (steel). The twin-face technology, first deemed non-conforming by the U.S. Golf Association before the ruling body changed its mind, is comprised of two faceplates, said KZG President Jennifer King. The inner face is affixed to the perimeter of the outer face plate in order to add stability and reduce sidespin. The net result, she explained, is a larger sweet spot and virtually no loss of distance or accuracy on off-center hits. To assure maximum distance, King said, the outer face of the Gemini Fairway Wood features a specialized heat-treated beta titanium DAT 51 insert, which has 60 percent greater tensile strength than 6/4 titanium. The mid-profile Gemini Fairway Woods' performance, King said, is further enhanced by an innovative design featuring a Uni-Size body. Whereas most fairway woods decrease in body size and face depth as lofts increase, King said the Gemini Fairway Woods maintain the same body size and face depth throughout, making them easier to hit with greater accuracy. "We have every expectation that the KZG Gemini Fairway Woods will receive the same industry-wide attention and praise as our Gemini Drivers," King said. Copyright 2005 PGA.com. All rights reserved.
