FootJoy is taking its Gel Fusion technology to new heights with the introduction of its GF:II line of golf shoes.

The new shoes feature a tri-density TPU outsole with a Wishbone Suspension that provides superior durability, flexibility and performance, company officials said. A new Dual OptiFlex zone, according to FootJoy, also has been incorporated for flexibility under the toes, in addition to the current zone across the ball of the foot, increasing the golfer's overall comfort.

The true nature of the Wishbone Suspension system, said Rob Kelley, Director of Brand Marketing for FootJoy, centers on the natural need for the forefoot and heel to rotate independently. Dual TPU Torque Rods, Kelley said, connect the heel and forefoot at what he calls the Independent Rotational Axis -- the exact point where the heel and forefoot begin to move and rotate independently.

The rods help establish a stable foundation regardless of lie, he said, and allow the foot to move and rotate naturally for added comfort. The shoes also help deliver better cushioning through GelRide Technology in the heel.

Kelley said several technologies are utilized in the GF:II shoes, including the new ECL Leather system by Pittards of England that is the most advanced waterproof leather available in golf, and GelCollar, a visco-elastic gel that provides a cooler environment and a more exact fit around the collar and ankle.

The shoes also contain Dryz Intellitemp, a technology that wicks away moisture from the foot, then turns that moisture into a gel state, providing cushioning in the Fit-Bed. In addition, Kelley said, Dryz IntelliTemp acts as an internal climate control, keeping a player's feet cool during hot days on the course.

"GF:II represents the top-of-the-line category where we pack in all the relevant technologies in order to provide the player with the ultimate combination of comfort, cushioning, stability, and flexibility," Kelley said. "Our studies have proven we have a true winner."

GF:II shoes will be available July 15 at a suggested retail price of $200 per pair. The shoes offer a two-year limited waterproof warranty.
