Bridgestone Golf is expanding its hybrid club line with the addition of its Bridgestone J33 Utility Woods. The new utility clubs are designed for golfers who are more comfortable with the look and feel of a wood to replace long irons. The J33 Utility Woods, according to the company, blend several features to offer precise long approach shots with a more playable trajectory and added forgiveness and control. Bridgestone said the J33 Utility Woods' heads are crafted from 17-4 stainless steel. The addition of an elastomer compound insert within the club head, the company said, helps to deaden vibration at impact, creating a more efficient energy transfer. To make it easier to get the ball airborne and to facilitate a more penetrating ball flight, Bridgestone said, a tungsten weight in the sole of the club lowers the center of gravity, producing more accurate high-trajectory shots. The J33 Utility Woods also feature a Tour Camber Sole design, the company said, for enhanced heel, toe and trailing edge relief. The J33 Utility Woods, which begin shipping this fall, will be available in #1 (15-degree), #2 (18-degree) and #3 (21-degree) models. Suggested retail price is $249 each. Copyright 2005 PGA.com.
