The Next Big Idea

Adams Golf sees hybrid iron sets as the future, and has begun delivering that future in five sets of Idea Hybrid Irons. The Idea a2 line includes matched sets of hybrids and irons for male and female players of many varying calibers.

Adams Golf (OTCBB: ADGO), which has found a niche with its Idea hybrid iron technology, has taken its "idea" of matched sets of hybrids and irons to the next generation with the introduction of five sets of Idea Hybrid Irons.

The new Idea a2 and a2 OS hybrid irons, according to Adams Golf Chief Executive Officer Chip Brewer, are a seamless progression of hybrids and irons integrated into one set of irons. The Idea a2 and a2 OS hybrids replace conventional irons with a blended set of easy-to-hit hybrids and irons, he said.

"We believe hybrid sets are the future because they deliver easier-to-hit long irons for all golfers and easier-to-hit mid irons for the majority of golfers," Brewer said.

The Idea a2 hybrid iron set (suggested retail price $599.99 in steel shaft and $699.99 in graphite), according to Brewer, features two Tour-based hybrids integrated into one set of high-performance irons. A low and deep center of gravity flows evenly and consistently through the set, Brewer said, and a higher MOI (moment of inertia) provides more forgiveness.

The Idea a2 OS set, Brewer said, features four progressively shaped hybrids integrated into a single set of irons. The center of gravity of each club, Brewer said, is 11 percent lower and 2.5 times deeper when compared to conventional irons. Brewer said this allows the CG (center of gravity) to progress evenly and consistently through the set and to deliver high launch, increased distance and precise gapping.

An Idea a2 OS set designed for players with slower swing speeds, Brewer said, features lighter-weight shafts and a set configuration that consists of 4 & 5 Hybrid iWoods and 6 & 7 Hybrids. The 8-iron, according to Brewer, is hollow-back for a low and back CG that transitions the set from hybrids to the short irons, while the 9-iron and sand wedge each offer a large sweet spot for easy-to-hit shots.

The women's Idea a2 OS set (SRP $699.99), Brewer said, features four progressively shaped hybrids and a women's 12-piece set (SRP $899.99) features a 460cc titanium driver, 3 & 5 Fairway Wood, 4 & 5 Hybrid iWoods, 6 & 7 Hybrids and 8-SW.
